Roller Coasters and Revolutions was about bringing text to life, specifically Romeo and Juliet. We had world conflicts that we were to connect to Romeo and Juliet, through a roller coaster module, a final product and a design pitch. While creating our roller coasters, we used physics to calculate force and energy of the coasters. Also, we learned in Engineering class how to physically create our modules and coasters, using welding techniques.
An outstanding moment for me during this project was when I completed my final product. I chose to create a costume, specifically an American Revolution dress. I knew right at the start that this was going to be difficult, but I decided to go for it anyways. I have sewed many things for years, but never a full dress. While creating the dress, things were going smoothly and I was working extremely quick. I sewed the entire skirt for the dress in only a few hours, which is very fast for sewing from just a couple yards of fabric. I did not use any patterns either, I just sketched and cut whatever I thought was right. When I finished the dress in entirety, I was so proud of what I had created. I was not expecting it to turn out as well as it did, and I would definitely say I am pleased with the result!
Of course there is always room for improvement no matter how successful the product is! I feel that my group did an overall great job with our design pitch, module, products, and exhibition. Although, we could've improved either way. For the design pitch, I feel like I should've spoken louder and with more confidence. I knew what I was going to say, but I needed to be more confident. For the roller coaster on our module, we played safe with creating the track. Something to improve upon would be making a more difficult track that would challenge us!
