Muralismo Proyecto
For this project we chose a controversial issue that interested us. My issue was the glass ceiling effect, which is the idea that women and youth can't get to the highest level of management in the workplace. We then made an art piece that resembled it in our eyes, along with a spoken word piece that could be a speech, poem, motivational talk or more. For my art piece I did a painting on aluminum metal of a silhouette of a woman. I then covered her head with flower images to give it color. I shattered a sheet of glass and glued it atop of the artwork to give the effect that she is "breaking through" the glass ceiling. Also, a team of students I was apart of took on an extra challenge to paint a mural reflecting on the whole class's topics. This mural is posted above our classroom, and curated by a color-coordinated rainbow theme.

La Reflexion
What went well for me for the project was my art piece. Usually I wouldn’t choose to do this type of art, but I had an idea and wanted to follow through with it. I am proud of how it turned out and I think it displayed the topic in a meaningful yet artistic way. One thing that could’ve been better was the mural timeline, I don’t think there was enough time given. It might’ve increased the quality of the artwork if there was simply more time to complete it.
I wouldn’t change anything. I am happy with how my piece came out and I really enjoyed creating it. Overall everything worked out nicely for this project and there is no need for change.
The most significant part for me was learning about The Glass Ceiling Effect which was my topic. I have always had an interest in women’s rights so this was a topic I am passionate about. I liked reading about my topic and its effect on society.
Throughout the entirety of this project I have learned more about Spanish culture, writing, speaking and pronunciation. Writing my spoken piece helped me be able to learn more Spanish words. Speaking it at exhibition felt great because I knew what I was saying!
No cambiaría nada.
