In the 12 Important Values project, we were to decorate our binders to resemble us, individually and creatively as a person. Once you completed your binder, you made a 5 minute meeting with Carol to explain your work. Also, we read 12 Angry Men, and learned about class values.
The 12 Important Values project was fully individual for the binder part of it. We had a prompt for each tab of the binder; for example for the Past Work tab you were to show how you wanted to grow as a person. I feel that i worked greatly by myself while designing my binder, yet also helped others by critiquing their binder progress or giving ideas of how to make it more creative. When others had an idea or way that I could improve, I openly received their feedback and most likely used it.
I feel that I approached this project creatively yet very ethically. On behalf of work ethic, I gave all my effort to make sure my binder was the best it could possibly be. Sometimes, I think I even aimed a little too high. I was constantly thinking of the tiniest way I could add a detail, which may have been too time consuming. I gave others helpful ideas and suggestions for how to improve their tabs, while also took others’ opinions on my work. Overall, I believe that I used our learning outcomes in a positive way, that allowed me to contribute my best self to my work as well as our classroom.
The class values were a major aspect to this project, as they provided ways that you could help others around you, and also yourself. I demonstrated and saw respect throughout the classroom by respecting everyone's different approach to this project. It was really interesting to see how people created their binders in such different and special ways. I used integrity and grit by working on my binder to the best of my capability. I had big ideas and little time, so I didn't give up, and instead compromised with myself so I didn't run out of time.
For 12 Important values, there was no set exhibition, but I would say the 5 minute interview counted to exhibit our binders. I really enjoyed meeting with Carol to showcase the work i put into my binder. I got to explain almost everything about me, which I thought was really cool. Overall, I am proud of how my binder turned out. I feel that it represented me in a colorful, organized, and creative way. I put everything on each page with intention, and each and every photo or word means something special to me. As a grade, I personally would give myself an A+, for my hard work, and sense of imagination. I think that this was a wonderful first project of 9th grade; learning more about my classmates and myself was so fun.
